作为一个写作顾问, you will be working with students of varying ages, 技能水平, and cultural backgrounds on their assignments and projects. After completing a College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA)-based training module, you will be qualified to assist and give students feedback on grammar, 组织, 格式化, 清晰, and other topics through face-to-face sessions, 通过电子邮件, 和/或通过视频通话. 编写顾问s assist with a variety of writing—not just academic essays. A position in the 写作中心 isn’t just for English majors! Anyone with a strong grasp on composition and a willingness to learn can gain insightful and universally applicable 技能 from their time as a 编写顾问. You’ll practice power 技能 like communication and empathy with your clients, as well as hard 技能 like technology proficiency, 文书管理技能, and project management 技能—all real experience and real success.

Our required qualifications for a 编写顾问 are as follows:

  • Completed ENGL-17000 Composition II with a B or higher
  • Demonstrate proficiency with English grammar and syntax
  • Understand differences in the major format styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, AMA)
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Office 365 applications (Word, Teams)
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, as well as with care and empathy
  • Communicate effectively in multiple modalities (verbally, email communication, video call)
  • Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking 技能

Administrative Assistant (Front Desk Management)

As the Administrative Assistant in the 写作中心, you'll be our face and representative for visitors, often being the first and last person they talk to. 当班期间, you'll be greeting people and answering their questions, including assisting them with technology or making appointments, in-person and occasionally on the phone.

行政助理, in order to be able to assist clientele and coworkers, will review materials to be familiar with (but not perform) the jobs of the 编写顾问s. This will also aid in managing walk-in clients amid consultant openings. Smaller tasks fall under your jurisdiction as well such as cleaning the tables and break area, 准备糖果碗, 跟踪供应, 并策划社交媒体帖子.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with computers and general technology
  • Demonstrate proficiency with and knowledge of Office 365 applications
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, as well as with care and empathy
  • Communicate effectively in multiple modalities (verbally, email communication, phone call)
  • Demonstrate a proactive and attentive attitude with clients and consultants
